The Girl in the Cup
Whip out your favourite mug and get chomping on some biscotti! Tea time waits for no one.
Hey there! We're really excited about the release of our first Loo Review - a fun series about big words.
We'll be making many more of these, along with book reviews, analyses, and other wacky literature-related confections.
Who are we?
You can call us Miss Muffin and her partner in crime.
Why does this channel exist?
For a long time, I've been aware of the absence of a particular kind of video that I wanted to watch - the fun but well-researched book review. Most of the content I've come across on YouTube falls either squarely into the category of the informative video or into that of the casual book recommendation. While there's nothing wrong with either genre - I enjoy a list of Top Ten Autumn Reads as much as the next bookworm - it was the thought of a hybrid genre that really inspired me. What if doing your English assignment could be invigorating instead of a bore? Could literary in-jokes come into fashion? How do you talk to someone about etymology without getting an eye-roll in return?
We'll do our best to find interesting answers to these questions.
I'm most excited about broadening the field of genres that are popular in discussions on YouTube. There's a skew toward teen fiction and classics in these discussions, which bothers me - what about those of us who want to hear about sci-fi, or poetry, or graphic novels? There are worlds of literary creativity yet to explore.
How did the Loo Review series get its name?
The Loo Review series is a video-form version of a comic strip a friend and I used to produce in high school, as a promotion of the school library. We'd choose an interesting word every fortnight, use it in a short, four-panel story, and post copies of it on the backs of bathroom doors.
Yep ... loo review.
What can you expect from our channel?
We aim to create a mix of content - shorter, more frivolous videos, longer reviews, recommendations and analyses, and anything else we think is fun.
You can expect nerdiness and an irregular non-existent upload schedule.
Remember: just keep sippin'.
